SP inaugurates the largest trail in the city with 182 km of nature and ecotourism

The city of São Paulo won, this Saturday (12), the largest trail of its urban territory: the interparque trail . Launched by the City of São Paulo, through the Municipal Secretariat of Green and Environment (SVMA), the route is 182 km in extension and connects important areas of environmental conservation and ecotourism in the south of the capital.

The Trail Integrates Municipal Natural Parks (PNMS), State Parks, Dams, Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs) and the Ecotourism Pole of Parelheiros, Marsilac and Ilha do Bororé.

The route begins on the ferry of Bororé Island, Grajaú, and goes through points such as the PNMS Bororé, Varginha, Itaim and Jaceguava, as well as Embu-Guaçu State Park, PNM Cratera de Colonia, Serra do Mar State Park-Curucutu Nucleus and RPPN Curucutu, returning to the starting point.

In addition to the extensive green area, the trail offers contemplation and leisure points in the midst of preserved nature. On the way, visitors can take advantage of piares overlooking the Billings Dam, a landscape observation tower for Guarapiranga and areas intended for picnics surrounded by natural scenarios and a lake.

The route, fully demarcated with signs from the Brazilian Long Course Trails Network, provides security and guidance for visitors, and is part of the municipality’s ecotourism circuit, expanding the options for outdoor activities and environmental education.

According to the City Hall, the Interparks Trail crosses areas of rich biodiversity, with the transition from the Atlantic Forest to the Cerrado at certain points. Among the species of flora found are the pink cedar, emphasized, cambuci, samambaiaçu, tapiá, palm heart and araucaria, some of which endangered.

The fauna is also featured on the route, with the presence of rowed monkeys, essential for the dispersion of seeds, as well as tangarás-monors, caxinguuelis, quitis and various other native species.

“The route allows visitors to have direct contact with São Paulo biodiversity. In addition to immersive experience in the Atlantic Forest, the trail reinforces the importance of preservation and environmental balance and strengthens the economy and tourism in the region,” said Rodrigo Ashiuchi, municipal secretary of Green and Environment.
