SP: Medical students make a photo holding flag with allusion to rape

During a university game last Saturday (15), More than 20 medical students from Santa Marcelina College in Sao Paulo, were photographed holding a flag with the inscription “Enter p ****, flows blood”.

The phrase, which refers to the crime of rape, was removed from an ancient “anthem” from the medical athletic, banned in 2017.

The collective Francisca-group formed by students and alumni of college-released a note via Instagram reporting the incident. In the statement, the group stated that the display of the poster violates sexual dignity and threatens the well-being of women who circulate in the corridors of the institution.

“We will not tolerate any act or say that try to establish fear and oppression,” said members. The group also demanded a positioning of the athletic, asking the organization to adopt measures that ensure the mental and physical health of all women present in the academic environment.

In response, Santa Marcelina College used social networks to position itself. The institution expressed repudiation of the episode and stressed that, at the time of enrollment, students assume a commitment to respect for ethical principles, academic dignity and current legislation.

It was also announced the opening of an internal investigation procedure to investigate the facts. The college stated that the students involved could be penalized with warnings, suspension or even dismissal, according to the severity of the infraction and the institutional precepts.

The Civil Police, through the 8th Women’s Defense Police Station (DDM), launched an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the case. The unit is available to receive complaints that may contribute to the deepening of investigations.

THE CNN He contacted the Pedro Vital Academic Athletic Association, but did not get a return until the publication of this article.

Note published by Santa Marcelina College:

“Santa Marcelina College vehemently manifests itself contrary to that on February 15, in a sports competition that was attended by students from the Medical Course, members of the Academic Athletic Association (AAAPV).

The institution clarifies that, in the act of enrollment, the student accepts a formal commitment to the faculty, of respect for their ethical and moral principles, academic dignity and current legislation. Attitudes like this constitute an interlocutory appeal to the institution and its tradition, mission and values and also to society as a whole.

In this sense, Santa Marcelina College has already started an internal investigation procedure to investigate the facts and the students of the institution responsible for the acts (which occurred outside their dependencies) will be penalized according to the established principles and the severity of the infraction. Punishments include verbal and written warnings, suspension and even disconnection (expulsion) of the college. ”
