The São Paulo Military Police arrested a fugitive from the Romeu Gonçalves de Abrantes maximum security prison, in Paraíba, in the early hours of Tuesday (2).
Accused of crimes of homicide, robbery and bodily harm, the prisoner has served more than 100 years and was located in Itaquaquecetuba, the metropolitan region of the capital.
The arrest took place following an anonymous tip that indicated the location where the man was. With the support of police intelligence mechanisms, the suspect was monitored by agents who carried out the undercover approach.
The man presented false documents to the police and identified himself with another name, but his real identity was confirmed in consultation with the authorities.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the man had been a fugitive for six years, as he escaped from the penitentiary in 2018. The fugitive was taken to the Itaquaquecetuba Police Station, where the case was registered as the capture of a wanted person and use of false documents.
