SP police seize 363 kg of substance used to increase crack volume

The State Department for the Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc), of the Civil Police of São Paulo, seized on Friday (10) a total of 363 kilos of a substance used by traffickers to increase the volume of crack and cocaine sold at points of drug sales.

According to the police, the amount – which was found in a truck that left the capital of São Paulo bound for Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo – is the largest ever seized in the state. Two men were taken into custody.

According to the Civil Police, the suspicious vehicle was approached at a toll in Atibaia, on the Dom Pedro I highway, and driven with its two occupants to the Denarc headquarters.

After identifying the substance, which was distributed in several blocks, the men were arrested in the act for drug trafficking and taken to the provisional detention center (CDP) in Jundiaí. The arrests were examined by the Public Ministry and the Judiciary, and were then converted into preventive prisons.

The seizure took place a day after the 2nd Police Station of the Investigations Division on Narcotics (Dise) of Denarc located a cocaine and crack refining laboratory in Jardim Mirna, south of the city of São Paulo.

At the site, three automatic sachet packaging machines (used to make cocaine packets), five basins, a pan and a precision scale were found. More than 10 kilos of cocaine and about 2 kilos of the substance used to increase the volume of the drug were also located.

The seizure made the Police Intelligence Unit (UIP) of Denarc reinforce the understanding that this substance has been used by drug traffickers to increase the volume of drugs in the capital of São Paulo. Denarc’s 4th Dise then proceeded to monitor a suspicious truck.

The investigations pointed out that he would leave a specific region in the south of the capital of São Paulo, where a criminal cell operates, bound for Atibaia. The vehicle was approached as it was passing through a toll and the load of 363 kilograms of substance was seized.

According to a note from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the driver claimed that he was carrying freight bound for Belo Horizonte (MG) and that he did not know the owner of the cargo. Another man said he was hitchhiking. According to police investigations, however, the supplies would be distributed in the region of Atibaia and in nearby cities, in addition to the south of Minas Gerais.
