SP: Study points to the need for R $ 1.9 billion in environmental investments

A study developed by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (CDP-Iiclei), released on Wednesday (26), pointed out a need of R $ 1.9 billion in environmental investments in municipalities of São Paulo.

The survey is made from consultations to municipalities on the need for financing of urban climate projects in areas such as water management, sustainable transportation and waste management.

Among the cities of the state of São Paulo consulted, some stand out from the high volume pointed out as necessary for projects. The city of Santos stands out with the largest number of projects reported in the country: 15 initiatives totaling R $ 227.6 million and range from sustainable transportation to the implementation of the climate action plan.

In the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Guarulhos reported a project of R $ 1.1 billion in transportation, including the implementation of VLT (Light Rail Vehicle). Francisco Morato pointed out seven projects that total R $ 235 million in costs in water management and recycling. Campinas points two projects totaling R $ 315 million in transportation and green urban spaces.

The study is called Global Snapshot 2024 and, according to the report, is developed in partnership with the Global Reading and Energy Mayor Pact (GCOM).
