SpaceX today launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying another batch of Starlink satellites. This launch was the twelfth for the first stage of the rocket, which is a record. The launch of the Falcon 9 took place at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 07:42 Moscow time, it was postponed for an hour due to adverse weather conditions.

The Falcon 9 carried 53 satellites, more than the usual 49 satellites. But the company needs to catch up after the recent loss of 40 vehicles due to a magnetic storm. According to astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell, SpaceX has launched 2,282 Starlink satellites so far, with 2,033 of them operational. As the Starlink orbital constellation grows, so does the speed of satellite Internet: according to the latest Ookla study, the average data transfer rate in the service, measured in 15 countries, exceeded the 100 Mbps mark.
