«Spaghettiland»: the independent music festival starts again between euphoria and desire to do

After the forced stop due to the pandemic and the suspension of many live activities, too Spaghetti Unplugged, the format that in the last eight years has been the reference point of Italian independent music, has been forced to adapt: from its rib was born Spaghettiland, a mini-festival consisting of two evenings – the first on June 18 at Ride Milano and the second on June 24 at Villa Ada in Rome – able to attract the public in presence to listen to important artists of the Italian music scene such as N.

A.I.P., Nayt, Margaret Vicar, Svegliaginevra and Esseho. “We decided to try to start again with two small events left pending for a year: our idea was to create a festival that would tell Milan and Rome and that would enhance the artists dear to us present in the area” he explains Gianmarco Doctors, founder of the format Spaghetti with Davide Dose and Giovanni Romano.

After the small preview in Milan, which saw the participation of NAIP, the revelation of the latest edition of X Factor, and Svegliaginevra, alias Ginevra Scognamiglio, the time has come for the second and last date scheduled at Villa Ada in Rome on June 24th: two thousand seats sold out immediately which, nowadays, represent a courageous but necessary operation. “We are now sailing on sight: at the beginning of the year, in a moment of great uncertainty, we tried to bet on summer and, fortunately, time proved us right” says Dottori, who confirms that the mission of Spaghetti, that is, offering high-profile professional experiences while also promoting emerging projects, has also been respected this time. «We have always had the idea of creating a festival of this type, also because in Rome there have never been events with several artists over several days. The idea is to make it become, sooner or later, a sort of Coachella “ Gianmarco resumes: the fact that the tickets for the event at Villa Ada, which on the 24th will see, among others, Nayt, Esseho, Margherita Vicario, have been sold in a very short time represents for him a “Hunger for music” that people have had for some time (“We felt responsible for having to carry out this project for them”).

Faithful to the intuition of Davide Dose, which he founded in 2013 Spaghetti drawing inspiration from those “open mic” situations capable of giving space to improvisation and the opportunity to share music typical of England, this edition, although contented, will try in some way to bring forwardi “the evening with friends” that Spaghetti It has always been. “It all started from a particular historical moment, given that the Circle of Artists had just closed and there was a risk of the dispersion of musicians and the Roman indie” resumes Dottori, who recalls how the event has hosted artists such as Last, Gazzelle and Tommaso Paradiso (“We were a piece of the artistic path of some of them, eyewitnesses of these embryonic projects that have transformed us into a small gym where everyone knows each other”). The “game”, once again, consists inunite established and emerging artists: on the two dates, in fact, Spaghettiland has decided to open the stage to some new proposals such as Chiamamifaro, Davide Amati, Ditonellapiaga, Emsaisi, Nuvolari, Trages that sound within the project Road to Spaghettiland with the support of the MIC and SIAE as part of the «Per Chi Crea» program. “We hope that autumn does not play tricks on us and that we can try to build a normality” says Gianmarco, even if these two dates give hope for the best.
