Spain: advanced inflation falls to 2.3% per year in March; The underlying IPC descends to its lowest level since 2021

He Advanced Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Spain has moderated 2.3% annual in March From 3% in February, as published by the National Statistics Institute (INE). This is the lowest inflation level in five months. The data has improved expectations, since the market was waiting for a 2.7%decrease.

The descent in prices is due to the decrease in electricity and fuel prices.

Monthly inflation has advanced 0.1% compared to 0.4%.

The Annual rate of the advanced indicator of the underlying inflation decreases two tenths, to 2.0%, reaching its lowest level from 2021.

The annual harmonized IPC has dropped to 2.2% from 2.9% previous, while the monthly has grown 0.7% since the previous 0.4%.

Euro reaction

The euro has barely reacted to the decrease in inflation in Spain. The EUR/USD operates in these moments about 1,0789, losing 0.12% in the day.
