A forest fire in southern Spain has evacuated the city of Benahavis, with a population of 7,000, and injured three firefighters, authorities said.
The fire started yesterday afternoon on the slopes of Mount Puhera in the Sierra Bermeha, above the Costa del Sol, a place of attraction for many British tourists off the coast of Andalusia.
High temperatures and strong winds blowing in the area fuel the fire.
A force of two hundred firefighters, dozens of soldiers and volunteers from the cities of Costa del Sol are facing the fire.
A fire in the same area last September burned 77,800 acres of forest. About 1,000 firefighters and 50 firefighting aircraft had then attempted to put out the blaze.
