Spain has postponed the development of rules for the taxation of cryptocurrencies

The Spanish Ministry of Finance has postponed the development of rules for declaring income received from operations with cryptocurrencies until next year.

This was announced by the Spanish Ministry of Finance in its annual tax and customs control plan for 2022. This decision surprised many analysts, who expected that due to the hype around cryptocurrencies, the rules would be fully formed already this year.

One of the reasons for the transfer was the inability to reliably verify information about cryptocurrency transactions, which makes it difficult to control reporting. So far, the Spanish treasury places all responsibility for reporting on the taxpayers themselves. Notably, the plan does not mention the booming NFT industry.

“We will continue the work started in the previous year and will try to use different sources to obtain information about transactions with digital currencies,” the document says.

Earlier, the National Commission for the Securities Market of Spain (CNMV) began to regulate the advertising of cryptocurrencies in the country. Bloggers with a certain number of followers will be required to coordinate digital asset ads with CNMV.
