The Spanish government called for nearly 66,000 registered properties from the Airbnb rental platform, on the grounds that they are violating tourist residence regulations. The Minister of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinui, said that real estate for rent violated “various regulations on the use of housing for tourist purposes”. The announcement was followed by a Court of Justice in Madrid, according to which Airbnb should immediately withdraw 4,984 from the market from the real estate reported by the ministry.
