Spain: Monkey pox cases have risen to 84

The Spanish health authorities announced 25 new cases of smallpox in monkeys today, bringing the total number of infections to 84 in one of the main outbreaks of the recent outbreak.

The Ministry of Health also announced that there are 73 suspicious incidents.

Health Minister Carolina Darias said on Wednesday that Spain would buy smallpox vaccines as part of a common European vaccine supply, and confirmed that the West African strain, which has a mortality rate of about 1%, was found in Spain.

Spain, England and Portugal are the countries with the most outbreaks of the recent outbreak of usually mild viral infection outside areas considered endemic, in parts of West and Central Africa.
