Spain: Police seize cocaine worth 105 million euros from a ship transporting animals

THE Spanish police seized 4.5 tons of cocaine with an estimated sales value of €105 million following raid on livestock ship off Canary Islands earlier in the week, according to today’s announcement.

The ship, as reported by APE-MPE, had done stops in ports of about 12 countries before Tuesday’s raid and police said the drug traffickers have started using animal transport ships because it is more difficult for the police to detect their illegal cargo.

The police captured 28 crew members of the Orion V, flagged to Togo, whose movements were monitored from Colombia by the Spanish authorities, the US Drug Enforcement Agency and the Togolese police.
