A rescue team on the Spanish island of Tenerife today found human remains in the area where a British youth, Jay Slater, disappeared almost a month ago and evidence suggests they belong to him, police said. The Spanish Militia said in a statement that the young man may have been killed after a fall in a rugged mountain area, but an autopsy will confirm whether it was an accident. A police spokesman said the body was found this morning by a Militia team. The family has been informed and a post-mortem will be carried out shortly, with the case being taken over by a Tenerife court, to determine the cause of death, the spokesman said.
