Spain: Three runners injured in the bullfights at the San Fermín festival

The festival of San Fermín in Spain returned after a two-year absence due to coronavirus and according to organizers three runners were injured by bulls in the established bullfights.

Several others also required medical attention for cuts and bruises sustained during the frenzied bullfight, which is the festival’s world-famous attraction.

According to the Spanish news agency Xinhua, this event was not the first in which the bulls took their revenge. Three other runners were injured by the horns of the giant animals during Saturday’s race and had to be taken to hospital.

More than a million visitors are expected in Pamplona — a city of about 200,000 — for the San Fermín festival, which returned this summer after a two-year hiatus due to pandemic restrictions.

It is noted that the festival started on July 6 and the curtain will fall on the 14th of the month.
