Spain will deport about 25 Russian diplomats and staff members of the Moscow embassy in Madrid, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said on Tuesday in response to alleged war crimes by Russian troops in Ukraine.
“We have decided to expel Russian diplomats and staff from the Russian embassy in Spain, who pose a threat to the interests and security of our country,” said the Spanish Foreign Minister after the weekly meeting of the country’s cabinet, without ruling out receiving and additional measures, as reported by Reuters.
The Spanish Foreign Minister clarified, however, that those who will be deported do not include the Russian ambassador to Spain.
Earlier on Tuesday, Italy, Denmark and Sweden also deported Russian diplomats.
