Spain will not recognize Venezuelan election results without publication of minutes

The Spanish government will not recognize the results of the presidential elections in Venezuela and will reiterate its call for the minutes to be published “in a complete and verifiable manner,” official sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation reported this Friday (23).

“It is essential that the minutes with the voting results are published in a complete and verifiable manner, so that there is full transparency as indicated by the United Nations panel of experts and as is customary in all democracies,” the statement said.

Furthermore, the Spanish government reiterated its call for respect for the right of Venezuelans to demonstrate peacefully and to freely express their political opinions.
