The Association of Photovoltaic Energy Producers (SPEF) records an increase in the cost of construction of photovoltaic projects – due to international price increases – and an extension of the time required to meet their requests for connection to the grid after a relevant research.
According to SPEF data, the increase in the cost of an average photovoltaic park of the power category from 10 kW to 1 MW in the mainland network of HEDNO is 15% compared to last year. Specifically, the cost of the panels compared to last year has increased by 8 cents / watt, ie 32,000 euros for a typical park of 400 kW. Also due to the increase in copper and other metals the cost of the substation incorporating these parks has increased by about 8,000 euros, the average cables absorb an additional 3,000 – 4,000 euros, while the metal bases have no savings despite being less due to the increase in the power of the panels.
Cost increase also comes from the other cost centers of a park, such as buildings, fencing, security systems, etc. and from the terms of the HEDNO connection. “Apart from the connection conditions, the increase in the construction cost of a typical 400 kW PV park reaches 45,000 – 50,000 euros compared to just last year”, says SPEF and puts forward the request not to reduce in 2022 the guaranteed energy absorption prices from this category of projects, but remain at 65.74 euros per megawatt hour which is the current price.
In terms of times, SPEF records an increase in the time required for the issuance of a connection offer from 1 month in 2019, to 3.4 months in 2020 and to 8.9 months in 2021 and for the electrification of the project from 6, 7 months in 2019, at 7.4 months in 2020 and at 8.8 months in 2021.
It is noted, however, that the number of projects electrified by HEDNO has increased significantly and specifically from 210 in 2019 with a total electrified power of 117.9 MW rose to 656 projects in 2020 with a total capacity of 369.95 MW and further to 991 projects in 2021 and power 498.71 MW.
