The tension in the locker room before taking the field, the workouts he undergoes every day to strengthen the muscle fiber and the smug gaze of the people who are close to him and who are concerned that his career will be the brightest of all. These are the first images of Speravo de died prima – The series about Francesco Totti, the dramedy Sky Original which will arrive on Sky and NOW TV in March retracing the last two years of the career of the legendary number 10 of Roma.
To inspire the series, directed by Luca Ribuoli and produced by Mario Gianani for Wildside, of the Fremantle group, with Capri Entertainment by Virginia Valsecchi, The New Life Company and Fremantle, is, in fact, the book A captain (Rizzoli) in which Totti retraced the fundamental stages of his life, from childhood in Vatulonia to his hair drying with the nozzles of his father’s 126 after returning from training.
A living, powerful story that follows Totti’s adventures from a footballing point of view – from his Serie A debut at 16 to the risk of being sold to Sampdoria before his Giallorossi tale could begin – and from a private point of view. The merit of the series is, in fact, to photograph the champion, who has the face of Pietro Castellitto, in all its facets: not only that of the captain with the same shirt for twenty-five years, but also that of the man who builds a family and struggles every day between the desire to leave and that of being the man who has always dreamed of being, aware of having been elected by his city as a symbol and leader, guru and guide. In the first images of I was hoping de died first we see, for the first time, Greta Scarano in the role of Ilary Blasi, Gian Marco Tognazzi in those of Luciano Spalletti, the last coach of the captain’s career, Monica Guerritore and Giorgio Colangeli in those of Totti’s parents, Fiorella and Enzo, and Antonio Cassano and Daniele De Rossi played respectively by Gabriel Montesi and Marco Rossetti.
In the cast, however, there is also Primo Reggiani in the role of Giancarlo Pantano, historical friend of the Captain, Alessandro Bardani in those of Angelo Marrozzini, his cousin, Massimo De Santis in those of Vito Scala, while Eugenia Costantini and Federico Tocci interpret the parents of Totti as a young man. The series, written by Stefano Bises, Michele Astori and Maurizio Careddu, presents itself as one of the most anticipated serial products of next season, especially for Castellitto’s performance that, after the exploit at the Venice Film Festival with his The predators and upcoming projects such as Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti, is preparing to conquer the general public thanks to its transforming camalentocity and, above all, thanks to a good dose of self-irony that never hurts. The international distributor of the series is Fremantle.
