The most popular music streaming service in the world, Spotify, began official work in Russia in the summer of 2020. And now the service has overtaken Apple Music in popularity in Russia.

This was reported by the TASS news agency with reference to the statistics of mobile communication operators.

According to Megafon statistics, Boom (VKontakte) and Yandex.Music became the most popular music streaming services in Russia in 2020. Their share was 56.6% and 18.7%, respectively. Spotify managed to gain a share of 12.1% and took third place. The fourth and fifth places are occupied by Apple Music with a share of 10.2% and YouTube Music 1.6%.

Beeline’s statistics are different, but Spotify with a 3.6% share and fifth place in the ranking is still ahead of Apple Music. Yandex.Music (37%), Boom (33.1%), YouTube Music (17.1%) and Dezeer (6.2%) are in the first to fourth places in the Beeline rating. In 2019, Apple Music ranked fourth, and in 2020 it did not make it to the Top 5.

Only according to Tele2, Spotify is still losing out to Apple Music – they received a share of 7% and 12%, respectively, and occupy the fourth and third places. The first two places were taken by Boom (55%) and Yandex.Muzyka (20%), and the fifth place was taken by the new SberSvuk (5%).
