Spotify retrospective: see complaints from those who found intruders’ music

Spotify launched this Wednesday (29) its 2023 Retrospective (Wrapped, in English), in which users have access to their activity on the platform throughout the year, with rankings of the most listened to songs, artists, albums and playlists.

The experience, which is normally released at the end of November or beginning of December, is highly anticipated by streaming listeners, and many are already considering the retrospective an “event”.

But it’s difficult to please everyone. On X, formerly Twitter, some users complained about the influence of Spotify’s integration with Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant, which had “messed up” the retrospective.

In many cases, other people with access to Alexa in the same house or environment use Spotify, and the most listened to songs end up on the most listened to list of the owner of the main account on the device. Check out:

The Spotify Retrospective has been launched since 2015 and, this year, more than 574 million people around the world used the platform. Among the highlights, American singer Taylor Swift took first place as the most listened to artist in the world with more than 26 billion global streams since January 1, 2023. In Brazil, the singer Ana Castela was the most listened to artist in the country in 2023.
