Russian Sputnik V vaccine is less effective against its South African variant strain COVID-19, but it still does better than other vaccines, said today the head of scientists behind the vaccine.

He said that Sputnik V tested against the British and South African variant strain, as well as the original strain, first identified in China’s Wuhan province by laboratories in the United States.
