Sputnik-V vaccine: The interval between two doses can be up to 180 days

In announcements concerning the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik-V The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) made on Friday (9/7) emphasizing that the interval between the first and the second installment can reach 180 days.

RDIF, citing the institute that developed the vaccine, stressed that the longer the interval between doses ensures a better immune response.

The Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines announced this week that the Gamale Institute in Moscow had requested that the interval between two doses be increased to 90 from the current 21 days.

RDIF, which commercially promotes Russian vaccine told Reuters that the longer interval between two doses ensures a better immune response and has nothing to do with overseas sales of the vaccine.

“Prolongation of the allowable interval between the first and second dose of Sputnik-V vaccine is not related to international sales”, said the representative of RDIF as broadcast by the Athens News Agency, answering the question whether the countries to which the Russian vaccine is sold, decide to extend the period due to delays in the supply of the vaccine.
