Squid Game: The strange sign on a street that spread panic on social media and the response of the police

THE Netflix series evolving into a phenomenon, Squid Game, is causing a frenzy among fans around the world with social media users are constantly looking for new information about the heroes, the 2nd season (if any) and the theories behind what is unfolding on the isolated island.

A sign on a street outside London has caused panic on social media as to whether it shows the direction for the scene where the Squid Game is being shot.

Police in the Thames Valley in the UK tweeted this week to reassure drivers that the license plate would not take them to the Squid Game, whether they wanted a plastic pig full of money or not.

So the answer was a little slower than Twitter expected. The sign, which consists of three shapes, was actually installed to inform drivers of a diversion while road works were being carried out..

The three symbols that cause delirium

The humble triangle, the square and the circle took on something of a rebranding recently when the popular Netflix Squid Game TV show took over the world. Millions of people sat on their couches for over 9 hours watching the series, which became the biggest Netflix release ever, pushing Bridgerton off the top.

In “Squid Game”, the contestants compete to the death for cash prizes.

The sign, along the M4 motorway near Slough, about 25 miles west of London, showed the outlines of a triangle, a square and a circle, along with an arrow indicating the next exit.

It was not clear how the drivers would have understood that the combination of symbols, without words, meant a detour.

Squid Game

A Slough Borough council spokesman said the council had no responsibility for the sign, which was implemented by Highways England, the agency that oversees major roads.

“As much as Slough likes to be at the forefront of trends, we can promise that there is no Squid Game in our city,” said spokeswoman Kate Pratt.
