Squid Game: there will be the second season!

It is perhaps the news we have all been waiting for: the second season of Squid Game it will be done! To confirm it, a few hours ago, it was its creator and screenwriter, Hwang Dong-hyuk, who explained: “There was so much pressure, demand and love for a second season. So I almost get the feeling that this doesn’t leave me much choice! The second season is in my head right now: I’m in the planning process ».

Netflix hasn’t made the official announcement yet, but it will likely arrive shortly when there will be something concrete on the table of the producers of the streaming giant. The showrunner has in fact added: “It is still too early to say when everything will materialize because the new episodes are only in my head, for now, but for sure Gi-hun will come back”. So, after the fairly open finale of the first season (rest assured, no spoilers for those who haven’t seen the series yet), we will probably follow 456 into a new phase of his life, in which there may be no more games to win prize pools.

But what could the new episodes tell you? Dong-hyuk, in another interview, he was not too unbalanced but he said something: «The emotions of Gi-hun they are very complicated and he is a very intriguing character. I’m thinking it might go after and punish contestants in the game or prevent other people from joining. Or again, it could participate in the Squid Game in a completely new guise. There are so many options to explore and I still have no idea which is the best ».

Given these premises, it is difficult to think of a date by which we will be able to see the second season on Netflix. The most likely option is 2023, but it could scale further because production times are never well defined. Time that we can use, however, to better discover Korean series and films so as not to feel too nostalgic.
