Mrs World title holder Carolyn Jury was released on bail today (8/4) after an episode in Mrs Sri Lanka beauty pageant at the weekend which resulted in injury to the finalist, became known by a police spokesman.
Beauty pageant winner Sri Lanka Puspica de Silva has filed a lawsuit against Jury, according to local media reports, after she forcibly removed the crown from De Silva’s head, shouting that she is divorced and does not meet the conditions to win the title.
Jury was arrested when she went to a police station to testify, said Deputy Inspector General Azit Rohana, adding that was later released on bail.
The holder of the title Mrs Sri Lanka participates in the beauties Mrs World. Jury, who won the 2020 contest in Las Vegas, told the media that she would speak later.
For her part, De Silva clarified in a Facebook post on Monday that he is not divorced, but he is separated.
The award was returned on Tuesday during a press conference, after the organizers of the beauty salons confirmed that she is not divorced and they apologized to her.
Mrs World’s official Instagram account acknowledged De Silva’s victory in a short photo post on Tuesday.

Miss Sri Lanka saw Miss World take the crown off her head to give it to the finalist, with the quarrel on stage unfortunately stealing attention.
The winner Pushpika De Silva managed to be honored with the crown on Sunday night, but she saw Miss World, Caroline Jurie, suddenly come on stage, grab the microphone and reveal that De Silva is divorced, so she should not even take part in the competition.
