The amount of 27.7 million euros is distributed to 100 small island and mountainous municipalities, to cover operating costs and the implementation of projects and investment activities, by decision of the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, after cooperation with the Central Union of Greek Municipalities.
The distribution is based on the particular geomorphological and demographic characteristics of the municipalities, in the context of a relevant government commitment. This year the grant is increased by about 14% from last year, while with the decision of Mr. Petsas the criteria have been reformed, and 11 more new municipalities are included, of which five small islanders (Poros, Spetses, Kythera, Skopelos, Milos) and six mountainous (Erymanthos, Zirou, Zitsa, North Corfu, Dirfion-Messapia, Malevizi).
