Staiatis Voglis: The startupper who shares the same passion for sustainable fishing and ‘information services’

Staiatis Voglis (27 years old)

STARTUP – Naleia, Dialectica

Statatis is currently involved in two start-ups: Elenia and Dialectica. Together with Lefteris Arapakis (last year’s “Forbes Under 30” list), they founded “Enalia” in 2016, a social start-up whose first goal was to train young people to enter the fishing industry.

The company has been awarded by organizations such as the United Nations and is funded by institutions such as the Costas M. Lemos Foundation and companies such as Nestle. It ensures that the plastic it collects from the sea is part of the circular economy, as it is one of the largest marine plastic cleaning operations in Europe, while it has trained hundreds of fishermen across Greece in sustainable fishing techniques and more than a hundred unemployed fishermen.

In Enalia, since the summer of 2020, when he returned in a consultative role, Statatis has the pleasure of being a member of the Board of Advisors, in order to help the company become the most effective marine cleaning action in the world.

Also, since 2017, it has been a full time participant in Dialectica, a start-up that helps institutional investors, consulting firms and large companies to quickly make “better” investment decisions based on real-time data and hourly market information. It is one of the 1,000 fastest growing companies in Europe, according to the Financial Times, and employs more than 450 people in its offices in Athens, London, Montreal and New York, with no external funding so far.

At Dialectica, Staatis is the youngest of the company’s Vice Presidents and a member of the founding group of the Montreal office, which is Dialectica’s hub for its operations in the Americas. During these years he has contributed, among other things, to the development of three of the ten largest customers of the company, as well as to the creation of talented multi-member Client Service groups in Greece and Canada. Dialectica now has a capacity of over 450 people in Europe and North America, with the aim of exceeding 1,000 people in the next 5 years.

Methodology: Out of the more than 100 nominations collected by “Forbes” – either through applications of the interested parties themselves or through proposals from institutions and competent bodies – the editorial team made a first selection and came up with 50. The jury, which consisted of Mr. Spyros Theodoropoulos (CEO of Chipita), Nikos Karamouzis (former President of Eurobank and the Hellenic Banking Association, President of Grant Thornton), Michalis Bletsas (Director of Informatics at MIT Media Lab), Theocharos Filipos Capital.gr, president of Attica Publications), evaluated the 50 candidacies with scores from 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest), based on which the final ranking was formed. The order of publication is defined according to the members’ rating (from highest to lowest) and then alphabetically. Conditions for participation in the list “Forbes 30 Under 30 Greece 2022” were met by those born from 1/1/1992 onwards.
