Data from the National Union of Tax Auditors indicate that the standard operation of the Federal Revenue is affecting the import of fertilizers.
The input is essential for Brazilian agribusiness and due to the war in Ukraine it became a problem, as Russia is the world’s largest exporter.
In Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul, where there is a customs unit on the border with Bolivia, the release of goods has taken around 12 to 15 days. Before the standard operation, the deadline was 4 days. Corumbá is where the fertilizer from Bolivia enters.
According to Sindifisco, on-site receipts have increased by more than 600% in the last five years. In 2016, the unit received 33 thousand tons of the product from Bolivia, in 2021 it received 205 thousand tons.
The standard operation has been taking place since the beginning of the year in protest of the category for the fact that the government has not granted the agency’s employees an old claim: a kind of bonus for prizes.
