The administration of the American Stanford University said it would return gifts and donations to FTX received through the parents of the founder of the company that collapsed a year ago.

In comments to the press, a Stanford University spokesperson said the school plans to return all the millions of dollars it received from the failing cryptocurrency exchange and its affiliates.

“Stanford acknowledges that it has received gifts from the FTX Foundation and affiliated companies for pandemic-related research. We have negotiated with the lawyers of the FTX debtors to collect these donations and are ready to return the funds in full,” a Stanford representative assured, but did not give the exact amount.

Earlier, the temporary administration of the FTX exchange filed a lawsuit against the parents of former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, demanding the return of millions of dollars embezzled to investors. The claim mentioned the structures of Stanford University, where Bankman-Fried’s parents taught. FTX’s lawyers alleged that Stanford received gifts totaling approximately $5.5 million from FTX-related entities from November 2021 to May 2022.
