In a recent episode of the “David Tennant Does to Podcast with…” podcast, the star of “Conclave” described that he felt extreme tiredness during the filming of the “Searching For Italy” program last year.
“It was so tired in the afternoon,” said Tucci. “Completely exhausted around the afternoon, and I thought, ‘There’s something wrong with me.’
He said he had a blood test, which revealed that his “thyroid was not working.” Tucci explained that he and his doctors tried to identify the cause of the problem, discarding factors such as stress, cholesterol or other possibilities.
“What happened was that, because of the radiotherapy I had six, seven years ago, my thyroid was destroyed,” said Tucci.
In 2021, the actor revealed that he had been dealt with a tumor at the base of the tongue three years earlier, which involved high dose radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
This week, he said his oncologist explained that late thyroid problems may occur as a result of the treatment he received. Tucci now takes a medication that, according to him, “made a huge difference.”
In another part of the podcast, Tucci reflected on mortality and aging, saying that this leaves him “a hundred percent sad and one hundred percent motivated,” adding that “there is a detachment.”
“This may be something good, but it can be just … let it go,” said the actor. “You know what I mean?
