This Saturday (4), lovers of the saga celebrate the Star Wars Day. The celebration's catchphrase is a play on words that combines both the date and one of Star Wars' classic phrases:
- “May the force be with you” (iconic phrase from Jedi since the first film in the saga, called “Star Wars VI: A New Hope “, from 1977: in Portuguese, it means “may the force be with you”);
- “May the fourth be with you” (which in Portuguese means “may the 4th of May be with you).
The date has gained popularity over the years and, currently, there are events in various parts of the world to celebrate the universe created by George Lucas .

Alternative ending
The original trilogy ends, in a way, with a “happy ending”. However, according to what was reported behind the scenes of the film released in 1983, titled “The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”, this was not the original idea.
George Lucas would have considered a different ending for “Return of the Jedi”, this one darker. “Luke takes off his mask, and then Luke puts it on and says, 'Now I'm Vader.' Surprise! The final twist. 'Now I will kill the fleet [rebelde] and I will rule the universe.'
Famous Yoda was almost a monkey
In the making-off film of “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), producers said that they planned to dress a real monkey in a Yoda costume and mask. However, the idea did not last as they thought that the animal could actually become a big “headache”.
First film almost causing a real war
In the first film in the franchise, “Episode IV: A New Hope” (1977), George Lucas found Tunisia a perfect place to record some scenes. Tunisia borders Libya, and, at the time, was governed by Muammar Gaddafi, who didn't like the idea.
He threatened conflict after he thought there was a military vehicle at the border. The “military vehicle”, however, was a Jawa Sandcrawler, a fictional transport in the series. George Lucas then removed him from the scene.
Princess Leia by another actress?
Among the many actors who auditioned to play Princess Leia in the first film was Laverne & Shirley sitcom star Cindy Williams, who obviously didn't get the role. Decades later, in an interview with the Television Academy, the actress praised Carrie Fisher as the only choice for the rebellious princess.

Daniel Craig, 007, made a cameo in the film
The eternal interpreter of James Bond – 007 – Daniel Craig made a brief appearance in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015). The reason? He is a big fan of the saga.
The actor would have dressed as a Stormtrooper, one of the “soldiers” of the saga, and participated in a scene with the character Rey, when she tries to use the Force on him to free herself and initially fails.
One sentence, all films
“I have a bad feeling about this.” The expression is present, even if spoken in a few different ways, in all the films in the franchise. It was first uttered by Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” (1977). Han Solo is still the character who said this the most throughout the film series.

The Star Wars saga has six features that are in the ranking of the 20 highest-grossing films of all time in North America, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens in first place.
