«But the influencer is not a job! They are only on social media and go to exclusive events, great effort ». Comments like these are heard frequently about the influencer’s work. But appearances can be deceiving and, as often happens, we tend to see the pleasant aspects of the work of others more easily. As for influencers, for example, we don’t think that behind a beautiful photo there are hours, yes hours, of commitment. And then, again, the difficulties that arise from always being “on stage” and the continuous need to create hypethat is, to keep the attention and interest of followers high.
We talked about all this with four guys from Stardust House, a sort of academy where young talents from the world of social media refine their skills. A house that has a dizzying impact on the web in terms of numbers: every day over 100 contents are created here that generate 20 million interactions; the followers amount to about 50 million, a number not much lower than the entire Italian population.
Stardust House and the work of the influencer
In the very recent book Stardust House (Mondadori Electa), the boys (photo) tell about their activities in this house which they describe as “a real school where we influencers can take acting, dance and singing lessons and put ourselves to the test with all the most important social platforms “. All the most important, yes, but with particular attention to the most recent ones, including TikTok and Twitch.
And then again scriptwriting, dubbing, editing and editing courses, because to create content that is captivating, the skills required are not few. Thus, each day begins with a meeting at 9 in the morning and then courses and activities begin which can also extend into the evening. “A few days ago, we stayed until 3 in the morning to record a video,” he tells us Giorgia Yinwho, before entering this house, participated among other things in various beauty contests, including Miss Veneto.
While in many countries there is talk of working weeks for 4-day employees, that of the influencer often does not even include free weekends. And if “for a 15-second video it takes us two hours because we have to figure out what to wear, what to say and how to move”, the eighteen-year-old tells us Samara Tramontana (who as a private student is finishing the last year of high school), you can get to livelive video, “of ten consecutive days”.
Thus, their days can become “super full” and the lessons fit together with other commitments, including a radio program in which several of them are involved on RDS Next. Remarkable rhythms, in short, to sustain which a psychological seal is indispensable – “We all had a mental breakdown“he observes Andrea Fratino – and a remarkable determination. The latter, in particular, the boys we met are not lacking: “when something doesn’t come out as I would like, I invest more time”, says Giorgia with conviction, to whom George Ciupilan he adds, “when they discredit me for something, I feel like excelling”.
The influencer in the entertainment world
The boys of the Stardust House have different professional paths behind them and in some cases already full-bodied considering that the oldest is 25 years old. There are those who come from the world of beauty, those who have participated in reality shows (like Andrea and George who took part in the “Barracks”), those who, like Samara, have been a model (from 9 to 14 years old) and a lot of theater.
In short, a life in the spotlight, which undoubtedly is not suitable for everyone, even if only for the stress that comes with it.
But these guys, while demonstrating some lightness and naivety befitting their age, are very aware of the path they want to take. “I’m trying to open up as many avenues as possible even beyond social media, but I will be an influencer for life. Since I was 14 I have wanted to become an actress, ”says Giorgia. Similarly Andrea confesses that: “in 5 years, in addition to TikTok, I would like to be on Netflix Italy, work on TV”.
