Start of 5G operation in capitals targets investments and technological advances

The 5G internet signal has already started operating in four Brazilian capitals (Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Porto Alegre). São Paulo should be next on the list as of Thursday (4), and the expectation is that the same will happen in the other capitals of the country by the end of the month.

The high speed and low latency of 5G promises to revolutionize the way we use the internet, allowing the automation of processes such as driving a car or doctors performing surgeries remotely. But the way to make the new technology accessible requires investments, mainly in infrastructure and in the acquisition of new devices.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an overview of expectations regarding the start of 5G operations in Brazil. To describe the challenges and doubts about the arrival of the fifth generation internet in the country, the director of the Institute of Technology and Society of Rio (ITS Rio), Fabro Steibel, and the researcher Luca Belli, from the Center for Technology and FGV Society.
