State Department: New sanctions in Turkey if they buy more S-400s

The State Department warns Turkey of new sanctions if it enters a new Russian market S-400.

Commenting on them statements by Recep Tayyip Erdogan on CBS television about the acquisition of a second package of S-400 from Moscow, a State Department spokesman told ERT, “we know these statements and we call on Turkey at every opportunity and at every level not to keep the S-400 it has already bought and not proceed to another purchase of Russian military equipment. We continue to make it clear to Turkey that any major new military equipment market will result in new sanctions under CAATSA County. “These sanctions will be separate and in addition to those already imposed in December 2020. The United States considers Turkey an ally and a friendly country and continues to seek opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations even when they disagree.”
