The United States has said in a statement that Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier said in a statement that Russia’s “invasion of Ukraine” was “blatantly absurd” and “offensive.”
“Talking about defense energy is blatantly absurd, talking about anything other than pre-planned war is an insult to the historical truth,” said Ned Price, a spokesman for US diplomacy.
The spokesman was responding to a speech by Putin this morning, on the occasion of May 9, the 1945 victory of the former USSR over Nazi Germany.
“It’s an insult to those who lost their lives and to those who fell victim to this unreasonable oppression,” Price said, referring to Putin’s statements.
