State deputy Lucinha is the target of an operation in connection with a militia in Rio

The Federal Police and the State Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio are working this Monday morning (18) with the aim of investigating the participation and political articulation carried out by state deputy Lucia Helena de Amaral Pinto, known as Lucinha (PSD), for the benefit of militia that operates in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Around 40 federal police officers carry out eight search and seizure warrants, issued by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Among the targets, there are searches at the parliamentarian’s office at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (ALERJ), in the center of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, as well as addresses in Campo de Grande, Santa Cruz and Inhoaíba, in the west zone.

In addition to the warrants, the Court ordered the immediate removal of the deputy from legislative functions, a ban on maintaining contacts with certain public agents and politicians, as well as a ban on attending the legislative house.

The investigations point to the active participation of Lucinha and her advisor in the criminal organization, especially in political coordination with public bodies, to serve the interests of the militia group. According to the PF, the deputy was called “godmother” by the criminals’ leadership.

The organization is being investigated for trafficking in firearms and ammunition, homicides, as well as extortion and corruption.

The action is an offshoot of Operation Dynasty, launched in August 2022, whose objective was also to dismantle a criminal organization formed by militiamen from the west zone.
