State of Rio de Janeiro maintains dengue epidemic decree

The Rio de Janeiro State Health Department reported that the dengue epidemic decree continues. Although projections show a downward trend, the number of probable cases of the disease is still considered high by state technicians and experts who monitor the situation in the 92 municipalities of Rio de Janeiro.

More than 171 thousand records of the disease were made until March 28, including the confirmation of 71 deaths from dengue. Furthermore, state technicians emphasize that there are still deaths under investigation.

As municipalities also have the autonomy to declare or revoke their own decrees regarding the disease, the city of Rio de Janeiro reported that it is no longer facing a dengue epidemic.

This is because according to the Municipal Health Department, there was a significant drop in disease indicators, which allowed the state of emergency in public health to be reassessed.

In the city of Rio, by the end of March, around 7 deaths had been confirmed due to dengue. And more than 82 thousand registered cases.

According to the Municipal Health Department, the entire structure that was being used to treat dengue fever will be used for the flu vaccination campaign. The vaccination schedule can be viewed here.
