“State services Auto” for drivers by proxy – you can show a smartphone instead of a paper STS

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Digital Science of Russia) announced new functions that have appeared in the application “Gosuslugi.Avto”.

We will remind, “Gosuslugi.Avto” began testing together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in early September 2021. The application allows you to show the traffic police inspectors a digital copy of the vehicle registration certificate (STS), which is stored in the application.

Now users will be able to delegate the presentation of the vehicle registration certificate (STS) to another driver, as well as check the history of the car. As the developers explain, in this way, through the application, you can present an STS to a vehicle that is trusted for control.

To do this, the owner of the car must indicate in the “State Services Auto” application the name, driver’s license number and date of birth of the driver, whom he entrusts to drive his vehicle, as well as the period for which control is transferred. As a result, the driver will be able to present the vehicle registration certificate to the traffic police inspector in the form of a QR code in the application.

Also in “Gosuslugi.Avto” it became possible to view the history of a vehicle and download an extract for a car from the state register of vehicles of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. This service can be useful when buying a used car. To get the data, it is enough to enter the VIN, body number or chassis number of the car.
