A statue discovered in Cleopatra’s tomb is said to reveal the true face of the Egyptian queen. Recent archaeological discovery at the temple of Taposiris Magna, west of Alexandria, has brought to light a white marble statue of a woman wearing a royal crown. The head of the excavation, Dr. Kathleen Martinez, believes the statue depicts Cleopatra VII, revealing the queen’s true features as well as ritual objects from the late Ptolemaic period. However, other experts disagree, pointing out some facial features that differ from known depictions of the queen. Some even claim it depicts a princess from the Ptolemaic dynasty, the nypost reports.
