Turkey supports NATO’s decision to overflow the target for defense spending at 5% of GDP by 2035 and has already exceeded the previous 2% threshold, a source said today at the Turkish Ministry of Defense. NATO allies agreed yesterday, Wednesday, to increase the collective target for their defense spending to 5% of GDP over the next decade. “Turkey is above its target 2% of defense -spending commitment,” the source said. “As NATO’s second largest army, Turkey is among the five that contribute more to the operations and alliance missions.” The source has said that Turkey has fulfilled all NATO goals on its potential and continues to invest in development and research in the defense industry.
