SteelSeries, which calls itself “the world leader in gaming and esports peripherals,” has unveiled Moments. It allows you to quickly and easily record gaming moments and share them with other users.
Unlike alternative ways to organize the recording and publication of interesting gaming moments, Moments does not require special skills, installation of additional video processing programs and the use of third-party hosting and file sharing services. Sharing a video in Moments takes just a few steps.
The Moments app is free. It is built into the updated SteelSeries GG software platform. You don’t have to buy and use any SteelSeries peripheral to install and use Moments.
The application runs in the background and starts recording by pressing the selected keyboard shortcut. You can record the entire screen or just the game window. In addition, you can record the stream while streaming. Support for the most popular games and video cards from leading manufacturers is said to allow recording without delays or distortion.
The recorded materials can be viewed and edited in the built-in editor, applying effects, overlaying texts and Giphy animations. The finished video can be uploaded to YouTube and Gfycat, shared on the feed or in private messages on Discord, Reddit, Twitter and Facebook. The company plans to expand its list of publishing platforms.
An interesting feature is the automatic mode, which selects interesting moments to record based on the internal statistics of the game. While it is available in League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 games, Valorant and Fortnite support should be coming soon.
The application is designed for PCs with Windows 7 or newer. Complete system requirements are given on the developer’s website.
