THE Stefan Banach is the honored person of today Google doodles on the occasion of his great work in the field of mathematics who influenced many of his later colleagues to the point where he is considered one of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century.
Born in Krakow Poland in 1892 from an early age he showed an appeal in mathematics and began to deal with the solution of problems in his early school years, while his family moved to the city of Lviv in today’s Ukraine. With the outbreak of the First World War, Stefan Banach moved again and returned to Krakow, where he began to deal with mathematics even more seriously, publishing his first work together with his friend and well-known mathematician Hugo Steinhaus.
He was also the founder of modern functional analysis and a member of the Lviv School of Mathematics. His most important work was his 1932 book, Théorie des Operations Linéaires (Theory of Linear Operations), the first monograph on the general theory of functional analysis.
It is worth noting that the Hahn-Banach theorem is one of the fundamental theorems of the science of mathematics.
After a great career and career he breathed his last in Lviv where he returned. He died on August 31, 1945, seven months after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
