Difficult to find a single adjective to describe Stephanie Glitter. All that remains is to tell who is through what it does. How to release her new single, Dirty Blonde: after having collaborated with musicians of the caliber of Elodie, M ¥ SS KETA and Achille Lauro the explosive blonde has in fact decided to give herself music.
Supported by Twinset attitude, who immediately believed in his message from freedom and acceptance of all that is unconventional. For the very young clothing line, in fact, Fashion it is a means to express desires, ambitions and dreams, always choosing what is right for ourselves, without unnecessary conformity. To celebrate this partnership of exception, therefore, nothing better than a party, renamed Dirty Blonde Dinner and housed in the hotel spaces Collini Rooms, during which Stephanie performed in front of friends, influence and journalists. On this occasion we met her and asked her everything there is to know about hers new project.

shalla hopeCan you tell us something about yourself, who is Stephanie Glitter?
“I’ll get my hands on straight away that I don’t like to define myself. There are so many nuances to understanding the complexity of the character. Exact character, not person. For me Stephanie is the interpretation of the world of the absurd, a redundant femininity with which I like to play and experiment with social contexts that I would consider experimental. Whether I’m attending a dinner or shooting the streets of the city for some brand new digital project, the situation is always surreal. Who has ever seen one business drag in Piazza Affari with a bathrobe couture? Actually you definitely do, friends of Vanity Fair, since I was dressed just like that on the issue that came out on newsstands last June. Stephanie, therefore, is my abstract world, where I can allow myself a light approach to everyday life. As Calvino said “take life lightly, that lightness is not superficiality, but gliding over things from above, not having boulders on your heart”.
Have you always loved music?
«Music has always been the soundtrack of my emotions. The discovery of new artists, stories and sounds has often led to questioning phases in my person. I really love being with people, the group, the party, but perhaps what I love even more is being alone. In those hours I love to surround myself with as much music as possible. I find it a mood catalyst. A tool to broaden and wallow in one’s inner currents. And, at the same time, a great friend, who takes you by the hand towards memories of the past or projects you into new and abstract spaces ».
Are music and fashion linked?
«A visceral trait d’union, I would say. What is fashion? A social behavior, the desire to show oneself to the world. Fashion is the perfect way to describe your message through costume, shape, looking for your own group, passing from clothes through literature, cinema and, last but not least, music. For me it is freedom, to strip off all this construct and to feel naked and sincere in front of oneself. The opportunity to vibrate to the rhythm of the feelings and sensations we feel in the belly and in the heart ».

shalla hopeFrom an aesthetic point of view, who or what influenced your look the most?
«Retro fascinates and seduces me, I smell tobacco and incense. Men prefer blondes it was THE cult. The description of the lightness of the character of Marilyn Monroe was an essential discovery. There Cleopatra of Elizabeth Taylor, the ambiguity of Victor Victoria, the condemnation of the passage of time by Meryl Streep in the Death makes you beautiful, are among the characters who have influenced my taste. Mina, Patty Pravo, Raffaella, my girls. As a child I used to watch and read random things that only began to take on meaning in a later step. From Siddhartha to Melissa P and her 100 brush strokes. Look I would say I hit the point perfectly, both were looking for happiness: one through spirituality while the other with cocks. Both were looking for answers and confirmations. In life I want to take the luxury of being the one who decides where to find my answers. I’m not going to hear more bullshit about Italian morality ».
How the song was born Dirty Blonde and what is its message?
“This single is my personal manifesto of personal revenge. I am a dragon to put the curlers but, here, singing has not always been mine. I was a shampista in the provinces to save some money to try and build something in a big city. Like Milan, where I finally met other people who, like me, had a broader perspective on many taboo topics. One of these, Stefano Riva, producer e sound designer, beautiful as the sun, artist and friend. The focus of the song is just this, a huge “fuck you”, to show that believing in your dreams is as important as breathing “.
She is an artist and an activist at the same time, and she also has an important presence on Instagram. How do you manage to balance these three aspects with each other?
«I live every second of the day 100%. I always tell mine followers “Friend, do you have time? Why not me!”. I like to invest my energy in what I believe in, what makes me feel good. The days are quite hectic, but the satisfaction of reaching the end of each set goal charges me a lot for the next project… and think, sugar, I can even do it on heel 12. See you in Niguarda, a kiss ».
How would you describe your style?
“Strange? Bizarre? Kitsch? Elegant? Definitely a mix of all of this. I have always enjoyed the masterful work of Patricia Field and Anna Dello Russo. Iconic, bold, absurd and brilliant at the same time. I think combining materials, styles, garments, fabrics, jewels and hats at first glance incompatible with each other is not only a perfect example of intelligence and taste but also a beautiful, very current metaphor. In a world where on the news we constantly hear about racism and discrimination, I don’t understand the meaning of continuing to persist in believing that there can be a unique and just model of society, the patriarchal one. Fashion is exactly the liberation from all these preconceptions. The ability to escape and mix everything. We learn to live together with respect for everyone, in harmony ».
What was it like collaborating with a brand known as Twinset and how did the project for Actitude come about?
«The message of this collection struck me right away. The will to emphasize and give a positive boost to women made me say: wow! A brand with such a widespread distribution that chooses a niche character like me is a huge step in the dark for a company as important and prestigious as Twinset. How modern, I would say. Communication director Monica, now a dear friend, is a pioneer. It all started a few years ago, for the digital activation of another company project with a beautiful message green, Please don’t buy, which promoted the rental, rather than the purchase, of clothes to wear for special occasions. The spark immediately broke out between us and the desire to do something together was immediate. When I heard about the values that Actitude represents, that is the freedom to be yourself always and in any case, I no longer had any doubts. Something epic had to happen: Dirty Blonde Dinner was an opportunity to meet again and celebrate all forms of individuality ».
