Stéphanie of Monaco will become a grandmother for the first time: son Louis Ducruet (born of marriage to former bodyguard Daniel Ducruet) and his wife Marie Chevallier are expecting a baby. The pair made the announcement with a cute Instagram post in which she also appears the family dog, PancakeI wear a bib with the inscription: «I will soon be a big brother». The shot is accompanied by a caption that reads: «An adventure is about to begin”.
The social announcement did not surprise the royal addicts. On November 19, the couple had participated in the celebrations for the National day of the Principality. And many had noticed her tummy showing through Marie’s white dress.
The baby on the way is the classic icing on the cake in a love story that has been going on, without shadows, for ten years now. Louis, fifteenth in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne, met Marie in 2012 at a Cannes nightclub. The wedding proposal came in February 2018. very romantic, on a beach in Vietnam. «I wanted this moment to be perfect and unique. It was very important to me that the place had meaning,” Ducruet explained. The princely wedding took place on the last weekend of July 2019: first in civil (and private) form, then in the Munich cathedral. The same church where in April 1956 Prince Rainier had said “yes” and Grace Kelly. Two hundred guests, so much emotion. Especially that of mother Stéphanie, who could hardly hold back the tears.
After the wedding Louis had confided in the British tabloid Gala that he and Marie wanted raise a large family. That dream is starting to come true. And the baby on the way will transform the former rebel Stéphanie of Monaco, for the first time, into a grandmother.
