Steve Bannon, populist former adviser to Donald Trump, was released from prison a week before the polls

Donald Trump’s former top White House adviser Steve Bannon was released from prison today after four months in prison for contempt of Congress, a week before the November 5 presidential election. Also influential in Europe, the conservative populist, aged 70, was sentenced in October 2022 to 4 months in prison for refusing to cooperate with the parliamentary inquiry into the attack on the Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump on January 6, 2021. That sentence was upheld in the second degree in May, and Steve Bannon began serving it on July 1 at a Connecticut (northeast) prison. His expected release from prison was confirmed by the US Corrections Service this morning, in the final stretch of a very heated campaign between Republican Donald Trump, who has never conceded defeat in the 2020 presidential election, and Democrat Kamala Harris.
