Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi received medical attention after being punched in the face while walking through New York City, in the United States.

A CNN , the New York Police Department said it is investigating the attack, which happened last Wednesday (08) and is part of a series of random attacks in the city. Last week, the CNN spoke to a number of women who reported being hit in the face out of nowhere while on the streets of New York.

“Buscemi was attacked in Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” said the actor’s publicist in a note to CNN .

“He is fine and appreciates everyone's messages, although it is incredibly sad for all of us that this happened while he was walking the streets of New York,” the publicist continues in the note.

According to police, officers were called to respond to an incident on 3rd Avenue in the early afternoon of last Wednesday (08). “When officers arrived, they were informed that a 66-year-old man had been assaulted by an unidentified individual,” the force said.

“The victim was transported to the hospital in stable health condition for treatment of bruising, swelling and bleeding from the left eye,” the note continues.

“To date, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing,” the force said. “The individual is a black male, who is wearing a dark baseball cap, blue t-shirt, black pants and carrying a book bag.”
