STF files Onyx Lorenzoni’s complaint against Randolfe Rodrigues

Minister Ricardo Lewandowski, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), filed a criminal complaint by the Minister of Labor, Onyx Lorenzoni, against Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP). Lorenzoni did not pay the costs of the process, not starting the investigation of the case.

The minister accused the senator of slander and defamation after an interview with CNN, in June 2021.

At the time, the CPI of the pandemic was still ongoing, and on June 23, Onyx Lorenzoni and Elcio Franco, former executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, made a statement on negotiations for the Covaxin vaccine.

In this press conference, the minister stated that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) had determined the opening, by the Federal Police, of an investigation against federal deputy Luís Miranda (DEM-DF), who claimed to have alerted the federal government about alleged irregularities. in immunization negotiations.

AT CNN, on the same day, Randolfe said that the minister had tried to “embarrass” the investigations, threatening the deputy and the brother of the congressman, who testified days later.

“Mr. Onyx’s action, the federal government’s action, is an intimidating action. I want to warn. Obstructing ongoing investigations by parliamentary commissions of inquiry, under law 1052, is a crime, subject to detention and to answering before the law for that crime,” the senator said in the interview.

In the lawsuit filed with the Supreme Court, Onyx claimed that Randolfe’s accusations are false.

Onyx Lorenzoni had a maximum period of six months to pay the costs for the lawsuit, but when he didn’t, he was filed.

Minister Lewandowski stressed, based on the penal code, that “in actions brought by complaint, no act or diligence will be carried out, without the amount of costs being deposited in a notary.”
