STF suspends judgment on municipal law that prohibited sanctions on unvaccinated people

The virtual plenary of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) suspended the judgment that would validate or not the decision of Minister Luís Roberto Barroso on vaccination against Covid-19 in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais.

In April, the magistrate suspended a law that prohibited compulsory vaccination within the municipality of Minas Gerais. The text also prohibited any type of sanction against unvaccinated people.

The trial was postponed after a prominent request from Minister Nunes Marques. In a prominent request, the case is sent to the physical plenary of the STF. In this case, it is up to the President of the Court to schedule the trial.

In virtual, there is no discussion, only the presentation of votes. If any minister asks for a view (more time to analyze the case), the trial is suspended.

Municipal Law 13.691/2022 also provides that no person can be prevented from entering, staying and attending any place, public or private, due to refusal to be inoculated with a substance in their body, including the Covid-19 vaccine.

In the action, the Rede Sustentabilidade party points out an offense against several constitutional principles, such as the defense of life and health for all, the priority protection of children and adolescents and the protection of the elderly.
