The Plenary of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) approved this Wednesday (25) the distribution of seats in the initial composition of the Federal Regional Court of the 6th Region (TRF-6), which will have 18 federal judges and headquarter in Belo Horizonte. The collegiate approved a rule, published on the 20th, regarding the criterion of seniority.
The ministers scheduled for June 13 the deliberation to define whether the session that will elect the members of the new court will be exclusively in person or in person and videoconference, whether the voting will be secret or open, as well as the criteria for promotion by merit of the judges. 1st Region federal candidates for the new court.
The president of the STJ, Minister Humberto Martins, assured that the court will continue working so that the TRF6 is installed in the month of August. “We are all committed to doing our best to get the TRF-6 off the ground and start operating from August 10th, with its installation,” he said.
The creation of the TRF-6 was approved by the Senate in September – the project had already received the approval of the Chamber – and sanctioned in October of last year.
The law made it possible for the current judges of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF-1) to opt for removal to the new court – only one magistrate decided to change.
The new court will be a division of the TRF of the 1st Region, which currently operates in 13 states, including Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Piauí, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins, in addition to the Federal District.
